§ 5.28.080. License—Classes.

  • Building contractor licenses shall be divided into eight classes as follows:

    A.

    Class A General Contractor License. Class A general contractor license shall entitle the holder thereof to contract for and to perform any act as a building contractor, as defined in Section 5.28.010 for building remodeling or repairing of any structure or addition thereto.

    B.

    Class B Building Contractor License. Class B building contractor license shall entitle the holder thereof to contract for and to perform any act as a building contractor, as defined in Section 5.28.010, limited to the erection, addition to, remodeling and wrecking of commercial buildings, not exceeding three stories in height, and nonstructural remodeling to commercial buildings exceeding three stories in height.

    C.

    Class C Residential Contractor License. Class C residential contractor license shall entitle the holder thereof to contract for and to perform any act as a contractor, as defined in Section 5.28.010, limited to construction, remodeling, and/or repair of one- and two-family residences, and building accessories thereto.

    D.

    Class D Roofing Unlimited Contractor License. Class D roofing unlimited contractor license shall entitle the holder thereof to contract for and to perform any act as a contractor as defined in Section 5.28.010, limited to installation, repair and replacement of roof covering. Work may include, but shall not be limited to roof deck insulation, roof coating, painting, and covering including use of sheet metal products incidental to roofing work or other material in connection therewith, or any combination thereof, and including installation of nonstructural decking.

    E.

    Class E Roofing Limited Contractor License. Class E roofing limited contractor license shall entitle the holder thereof to contract for and to perform any act as a contractor as defined in Section 5.28.010, limited to the installation, repair, and replacement of residential steep roof coverings. Work may include fabrication and installation of sheet metal incidental to residential steep roof coverings and installation of asphalt shingles, asphalt roll roofing materials, clay tile, concrete tile, slate, wood shake or shingles and other prefabricated shingle products.

    F.

    Class F Limited Contractor License. Class F limited contractor license shall entitle the holder thereof to contract for and to perform any act as a contractor defined in Section 5.28.010 limited to one or more specific specialties listed on the license application. This license will not be issued to a contractor that requires a license as defined in subsections A, B, C, D, E, G, or H of this section.

    G.

    Class G Demolition Contractor License. Class G demolition contractor license shall entitle the holder thereof to demolish any building subject to the provisions of this class and Section 5.28.060 and any other provisions of this code.

    H.

    Class H House Mover License. Class H house mover license shall entitle the holder thereof to move any building subject to the provisions of this class and Section 5.28.060 any other provisions of this code.
